In 2024 she was named one of <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/collection\/women-of-the-year\/6691526\/jacqui-patterson\/\"><em>Time Magazine<\/em>\u2019s Women of the Year<\/a> for what it calls her \u201crevolutionary approach to climate justice.\u201d<\/p><p>In this conversation with Post Carbon Institute Executive Director Asher Miller, Jacqui talks about the plight of Black communities like Sandbranch, Texas, which led her to launch the <a href=\"https:\/\/thechisholmlegacyproject.org\/\">Chisholm Legacy Project<\/a>. (Shirley Chisholm \u2013 the first Black Congresswoman and first Black Presidential candidate in US history \u2013 was famous for her folding chair approach: if you\u2019re not given a seat at the table, bring your own folding chair.)&nbsp;<\/p><p>Jacqui also explains what it means to have a \u201cjust transition,\u201d talks about the commonality of Black communities across the African diaspora, and shares what\u2019s shifted in her understanding of the global polycrisis in the five years since she and Asher first met \u2013 at a small gathering of social justice and sustainability thought leaders on the topic of \u201cnavigating the Great Unraveling.\u201d<\/p><div class=\"gb-container gb-container-0f97d237\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>You must be a <a href=\"\/plus\/\">Resilience+<\/a> member to watch the full video.
